The WAQHA had another successful two day “AA” show held at the State Equestrian Centre, Brigadoon on October 25th and 26th which saw a good number of competitors back in the show ring. The weather was a little unpredictable, for those who camped on Friday night would have experienced the storm, Saturday morning it rained non-stop, but by Saturday afternoon and Sunday it was beautiful and sunny.

Mr Dave Young, from New Zealand was our judge for the WAQHA Bonanza Show. Dave was the Youth World Cup coach for team New Zealand at this year AQHA Youth World Cup which was held in Canada.

There was a new event on the program, the “National Breast Cancer Foundation All Age Western Pleasure Class“. Thank you to our sponsors for this event, Supreme Horse Wear for donating a hot pink rug, Donna Newton for donating a gorgeous pink garland, Holly Locke of Palmer Wines donating Palmer Wines new range of the ‘Love Potion’, Horseman’s Trading Post, Horseland Midland, Saddle Plus Byford, Brigadoon Produce for donating lots of different pink horsey items, and a thank you to Sue Ganzer, Melissa and Tyson Deutscher and Sonia Riches for collecting the pink goods, and getting the class under way. The entry fee was $25, with 8 competitors in it. We raised $427.00 on the weekend, all money raised from the class and the selling of the NBCF goods, and silent auction goes to a very good cause.

The show officially started at 8:30, with over 35 Quarter Horses entered in the halter, it seemed it was going to be a long day. Champion Quarter Horse Filly/Mare went to SOQ Catty Invitation Q-62193 owned by J McRobert and S Benthien, shown by Sue Benthien. Reserve went to My Western Obsession Q-63832 shown by Holly Locke. Champion Gelding any age went to SOQ My Only Tomcat Q-58795 owned and shown by Holly Locke, with Reserve going to Winderadeen Cee A Boom Q-58129 owned and shown by Sarah Hutchins. Champion Colt/Stallion any age, went to Imperial Gold Reign Q-60800 shown by Toni Porth, with reserve going to SSQ Seeking The Count Q-47596 owned by Margaret Thomas, shown by Mike Donavon.

Congratulations to the winners and place getters. The American Quarter Horse classes quickly followed, Champion Mare went to My Western Obsession Q-63832, shown by Holly Locke. Champion Gelding went to SOQ My Only Tomcat Q-58795 shown by Holly Locke; Champion Stallion went to Imperial Gold Reign shown by Toni Porth.

Showmanship was next on the agenda, Congratulations to the winners. Senior Youth went to Kodi Anderson showing Breakin Hearts Q-33736, Amateur went to Brenda Smith showing Hot Zipnlee Q-57898, Junior Youth went to Jaiden Thompson showing Phayme Tedd’s It’s A Breeze Q-52214 and last was the Select Amateur which was won by Roxanne Johnston showing her gelding Coliban Solid Gold Q-60298.

After the Showmanship the State Bred Halter was held, first place for the WA State Bred went to Xtreme Spin Q-56107 shown by Sarah Lumley, with Dakota Zulu Kissah Q-55648 shown by Carly Ganzer, in a close 2nd. Eastern States bred went to My Western Obsession Q-63832 owned by Holly Locke with Holly’s big gelding SOQ My Only Tomcat Q-58795 coming in second shown by Asha Morris.

The Hunter under Saddle Events commenced after a short break, Junior Horse HUS went to Winderadeen Cee B King Q-52939 ridden by Paula DiCandilo. Senior Horse went to RSVP To Willy Q-55320 ridden by Rae Hare. Next on was the Hunt Seat Equitation. The pattern was easy to remember, including a counter canter to the right.

Quarter Horse Halter - Dakota Zulu Kissah Q-55648 and Carly Ganzer
The All Age Hunter Hack shortly followed, with a reasonable amount of horses entered. The winner for this event went to the stunning palomino Arrum Q-45672 owned by Janeen McRobert, ridden by Justin Sprigg. After the hunter hack, the Hack events started. Senior Horse went to GK Chipariffic Q-47299 ridden by youth member Emily Donders, Amateur Hack went to the hard working, Martene Carter riding Tripoly Cuttin Loose Q-52462, Junior Horse was awarded to Seeking Some Mour A2-1478 ridden by Karen Nicoletto. Youth Hack was awarded to the stunning pair, SheOak Dun In Chrome A2-679 and Steph Bedden.

After all the ridden had finished, all the little tackers were out and about. Yearling Versatility Halter went to Skip This Invitation BT61142 owned by Lopealong Stud shown by Matt Tierney. Lunge Versatility and Versatility Trail went to SOQ Executive Bar Q-59626 owned by Lia Lee & shown by Tahnee White.

Showmanship - SOQ My Only Tomcat Q-58795 and Asha Morris
On the Sunday, the show started of with the Senior Horse Trail. Everyone was a little bit tired, having to wake up that extra hour,welcome day light savings! Senior Horse Trail went to the wonderful duo, Charary Power of One Q-45735, owned by Val Sallur ridden by Holly Marshall. Senior Youth went to Kodi Anderson riding Breakin Hearts Q-33736.Junior Horse Trail went to Joyful Firefly Q-57501 ridden by Tahnee White owned by Bridget De Bijl. The pair was awarded a lovely garland. Congratulations to everyone.

The Reining and Western Riding events followed, Senior Horse going to Breakin Hearts Q33736 ridden by Kodi Anderson, who also took out the Senior Youth reining, Senior Horse western riding and Senior Youth western riding. Amateur went to Jets Fooled Em Again Q-43498 ridden and owned by Tracy Bruce. Select Am Reining and Western Riding went to Mary Treloar and her lovely mare, Spin in Style Q-31630.

Trail Class - Triandibo Infusion Q-54372 and Jaiden Thompson
After the lunch break, and the arena being graded (thanks to Shannon the ever so hard working SEC lady, for your wonderful help.), the horsemanship events were held. Select Amateur went to Spin in Style Q-61630, Senior Youth went to Kodi Anderson riding Breakin Hearts Q-33736, and Amateur Horsemanship went to Brenda Smith riding her lovely gelding, Hot Zipnlee Q-57898.

The pleasure events started, first with the feature event. The National Breast Cancer Foundation All Age Western Pleasure Champion went to RSVP To Willy Q55320, ridden by Brian Cramp, with reserve going to Charary Power of One Q45735 ridden by Holly Marshall. Brian and RSVP To Willy Q55320 took home a hot pink rug, a hot pink garland, and a lot of pink goods. Brian should be congratulated on being the only male, tough enough to wear pink! Thank you to everyone who entered that class, with all the money going towards the Breast Cancer Foundation.

The next WAQHA will be the A class summer show, on the 7th of December with QLD judge Mr Scott Sutton.
